We have another gal who has succumbed to the lure of the Lady. Anna will also be using Noro Kochoran, in a lovely oceanic blue! Also, I have been accused flattered by being “the actual, legal & proximate cause” of Anna passing go and collecting Noro on the ebays. She commented and told me that within minutes of seeing the Lady E-coverage she was scouting on ebay. And she’s a law student. Our innocent KAL caused some causation in the stash enhancement department.
Now, Anna, I can accept responsibility for your falling out of your seat while surfing the internets, and in doing so your paypal account accidentally getting clicked to “pay now” on this Noro business. But all that other yarny goodness, that’s all you babe!
Lynda reports that she will be finishing her Prissy Scarf (my name, just couldn’t resist the “Miss Priss” reference) this weekend! In her eyes, it continues to look like the same old scarf. But I bet when all is woven and blocked, it will be a stunner.
Nancy has started her Lady-K (Nancy – don’t go making that into a dirty joke. I can already see it 🙂 Oh OK, go ahead). Sadly the Kochoran is making her sneeze!! Maybe wearing one of those Knitty nose-warmers would do the trick!
I can practically feeeeel the squishiness looking at this picture!
Teresa’s Olympic endeavor continues apace. This pic is at about 2.5 skeins…she’s making hers blanket-sized!! It’s going to be incredible, I believe!
Tess is awaiting her Lady-E yarn, and is completing her Olympic project, her first pair of socks! Go Tess!
I also want to give a shout to Erin and Veronique, whom, because they finished right out of the starting gate, have not been regular features of the updates. But they are there, giving encouragement and inspiration. In fact, I believe the pictures of their finished Lady’s in the gallery have proven to be very inspiring to inquiring Lady E’ers!!
My Lady, she is fringed and blocked, and darn hard to take a decent picture of.
I cut out the uber-bright blue from about 4 of the skeins, it wasn’t in every one. For me, it was a jarring shade of blue, and I didn’t want it to overwhelm the other colors. It seemed to work out OK.
I steam blocked heavily…but without pinning. The Silk Garden relaxed immediately, and after steaming about a foot of length, I would pick the whole thing up and stretch it gently lengthwise. I wanted it a bit longer and thinner, and I wanted the blocks to meld into each other. With hardly any effort at all, the steam blocking worked magic!
This pic is draped to try and show both sides, and show, well, the drape.
I messed up on the fringe. I cut the bits below the last know too short. Once it was cut, I had to cut it even across. With the lighter weight yarn combined with the shorter length, the fringe doesn’t have as much weight as I envisioned. But I like it enough to keep it, and I am NOT tying all those knots again! Tee-dee-ous.
This pic shows the colors very accurately, and is more folded up as a scarf.
I have plans to go to Descanso Gardens this weekend, and I want to take to better pictures “in the wild”.
That’s all the Lady E news. I have a long weekend, with Prezzie’s Day on Monday. What about you? What’s extra cool, is that my office works on a 9/80 schedule, and they schedule the Fridays off starting after the end of year break each calendar year to maximize 4-day weekends (Monday holidays that fall after a Friday off).
I did mad housecleaning last night in some manic bid to wake up and enjoy a clean(er) house all weekend.
As a final bit of pretty, I wanted to share this little marvel – a tea flower:
These are from Adagio Teas, and are hand-tied bunches of tea leaves that bloom while steeping. It is quite something! A small work of art. I don’t want to throw it out!
Have a marvelous weekend and Happy Knitting!
Jillian – your Lady E is GORGEOUS!!! I. want. it.
Please?
Wow, such a full post of goodness. The tea flower is aMAZing, as is the finished E. I just love it– but of course, it’s my colors. Is “prezzies day” a euphemism for birthday? If so, happy birthday!
The Lady E is gorgeous. I’m so impressed!
jillybean was an August baby…i think is her euphamism for President’s Day! and Lady E is truly gorgeous, i love the colors & that knotted fringe!!
It looks great Jillian! Wonderful job – the colors are beautiful!
It’s stunning. I love the colors! Great job.
I love your LAdy E it’s gorgeous! THey are all just so pretty.
Lookit all the pretty Ladies! Love yours Jillian, that fringe just makes it perfect. Beautiful! Now I wish I would have made the full-size version.
That tea flower is the neatest thing.
Enjoy your nice long weekend! 🙂
I can’t believe you blocked your Lady E! How very brave of you. I was afraid that blocking might flatten the 3D “egg crate” shaping, so I am wearing it as is.
I love your updates, especially seeing everybody’s progress! And I’m still coveting some Kochoran…
Woohoo! Lady Everlasting is just plain E now! And she’s a beauty. Congrats on finishing. You had to KNOT all of those ends to get fringe? Yuck…
I drool over your Lady E! Gorgeous! And that tea flower – I’ve never seen anything like it.
I LOVE IT! I need to get chugging on mine.. I’m almost done with the first ball.
Wonderful job – your Lady E is beautiful!
Your FO is just beautiful!
Golly – all those lady Es! I only have three balls of kureyon. That would be an awfully small lady e….
Yours looks lovely, Jillian, and I agree – redoing all those knots would be a total pain!
All your fault. 😉 Now I’m watching and trying to resist casting on!!!! You won’t tempt me…you won’t…really…not til Marilyn is finished…and Sockpal socks….nope. Absolutely not.
