I’m feeling the love for finishing right now. I might have to finally tackle my languishing Summer Breeze. It’s been at “90%” for just about ever.
But for now, an official second crocheted FO!
Boteh Scarf by Kathy Merrick
Yarntini superwash wool/tencel sock yarn in Mint Mojito (club yarn from last year), 95g
3.75mm hook (F)
No mods – about 8 feet long!
This was super fun and pretty easy too! Lots of bang for the crochet buck. There was some ripping back and redos, but even with that this was quick. Knitting an 8-foot long scarf in fingering weight yarn would have taken a whole heck of a lot more time. I started to sweat the yarn quantity as I was doing the edging. I had just barely enough:
Whew. Just 5 grams left.
Knitty goodness came in the mail today from Karatstix:
A 2-inch gauge square with SHEEP! It’s simply awesome. And it came with a sweet extra:
A stitch marker/zipper pull/bauble with a SHEEP… and the gauge tool came in a perfectly sized plastic bag with a cute sticker, that I do believe I will use for storage. The engraving is perfect and very detailed, and the finishing is supurb. And the shipping? People, I ordered this on Thursday, it came on Saturday! Thanks Karen!
And it’s likely old news by today, but Twist Collective went live yesterday! I really like it. The format, content, and quality of patterns and information is top notch, IMHO. I haven’t actually gotten any patterns yet, because I like them all. I am giving them the “24-hour test.” You know, if you really want something but the cost is an issue, wait 24 hours or a couple days or what have you and then revisit it. That will tell you want you really want. I keep going back to the page to see which design speak to me after first blush. And really, most of them do. But for patterns to actually knit and wear, Bonnie and Linden are the current standouts for me.
Another cute project I’ve picked up recently is the Yogini Bolero from Knit and Tonic Wendy. So perfect for our climate, and also a prefect go with everything cover up!
That’s a really cool scarf!
Love the scarf – I hope you are keeping it for yourself as the color will be perfect! Doesn’t the edging always take way more yarn than you think! Love, love, love the Twist Collection – sound advice to sleep on it, though. I can see myself making several of them but have to work through stuff in stash first.
Beautiful – good work! š
Linden is definitely my favorite, I do think!
The scarf is awesome! Love it! I can crochet a little, but I don’t know if I could make the scarf or not. I would love to make it! What yarn did you use? I know you probably mentioned it awhile back, and I guess I could go back and look. . . . Oh! I love Twist Collective! I bought four patterns! Linden, being one of them. I’m such an impulse buyer. No waiting around for the next day for me!
ohhh!!!!!!!! scarf heaven !!!!! your pics need to be in mag’s !!!!!!! can i somehow send them in ??? l and p { we are on porch with purple blue binky } !!!!!!!!!!
Bonnie and Linden are my faves, too, as well as Cleite and the Gnarled Oakwoods. However, since my printer is still among the missing items, I’m going to have to wait to buy them till I can print them out!
Cool scarf! Twist Collective is very well done. I like almost all of the patterns. I do the 24-hour test too. Sometimes I’ll do a 7-day test and if it’s a big item and time is not an issue, I’ll do a month-long test. Works every time! š
Yarntini + crochet = one great scarf!
very cute – I love the waviness of the scarf! you are turning into a crochet master!
Love the scarf – nice and drapey!
I MUST get one of those gauge squares. Seriously, I am shopping today.
Congrats – it’s a beauty! I’m excited about the Twist Collective- really great content.
Your crochet skills are superb. So pretty!
I heard Saturday that the original concept for Twist Collective was that it was going to be a subscription based magazine. I sure wish they’d kept that concept. Then, I’d be able to afford all the patterns I love.
