Placed Cable Aran is once again drying on the blocking board. The first time around it fit OK, but not great. The body and sleeves were a tad too short and overall too boxy. So back on the blocking board, wherein I stretched the wahooey out of it.
More or less the same picture as before. Don’t know if you can tell from this angle but the proportions are different. Fingers crossed!
Yesterday I made a start to Starsky:
Part of a front. It would have been a whole front, until I realize I had goofed up the armhole decreases and frogged back about, oh, 20 rows. Oops!
Over the weekend, Unwind had their nearly infamous, once a year blowout Super Bowl Sale. I popped in on Saturday, but was fairly restrained…
In addition to the whole store being on sale, she collects yarns for the 50% off backroom sale! One skein of ivory Cashcotton 4-ply (never know when such a thing might come in handy), Silky Tweed in the loveliest shade of green, and a bag of RYC Soft Tweed. In Twig. I was looking at all the Soft Tweed colors, trying to remember what I had just gotten from Ram Wools in accidentally insufficient quantity for a sweater. I knew it was a neutral, natural color. So I got Twig. It sounded familiar. But I really wasn’t sure. What did I have at home? Sprig. Damn twee Rowan color names.
Topaz and I both thank you for all the lovely comments on his improved health! Master Topaz even deigned to allow me to interrupt his morning sunning in the front window to take a some pictures of his furry self to share with all of you:
Yarn scharn… that is one kitty chin begging for a scratching.
ooh – soft tweed – that stuff looks amazing! now you can have a 3 color sweater I guess!! 🙂
I think it is best to knit on the small size because at least you can block it to be bigger. Looks like you scored (sorry) at the superbowl blowout. The colors look very much “you.” I haven’t been in a LYS in so long I’ve forgotten what it’s like.
scritch scritch!
Topaz looks purrfect!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist! Great yarn score!
So you braved the Unwind sale, eh? Was it as crazy as last year? (that was some kinda crazy) Great scores!
Twig, sprig…frightwig! hee
so sleek and handsome says “aunt laura” bout the esteemed topaz !!! miss pearl says so what lard ass !!!! x0x0x0x0x0x
That is a blissful cat.
The placed cable aran is looking good – cant wait to see it on you. Thanks for the plug on my Starsky. One word of warning: check your row gauge as you work on the sleeves. The sleeve cap was WAY too small after I knit and blocked it. I ended up ripping it out and doing decreases every 4 rows instead of every 2 rows. This worked much better! Good luck – I’m sure it’s going to be awesome.
I hope the fit works out because that color is so beautiful!
I presume your next post will be photos and modeling of your latest creation. Looks great!
i LOVE the color you chose for Starsky. I’m fighting the urge to add it to my queue.
I considered going to Unwind, but I’m saving my $$ for Stitches right now. Looks like some beautiful yarn was acquired though. I especially like the Silky Tweed.
I just LOVE the color of Starsky! What was that yarn? Well, it is very nice. Can’t wait to see it.
