Sorry for the absence! My office is in the middle of the perfect storm of deadlines and I am about to head into my 8th straight full day of work. It’s an extraordinary circumstance and my office works hard not to have people working much OT.
But that means I got a whole lot of very little on the knitting front. I have done a little stash enhancing to soothe a weary soul.
I had had a little cashola sitting in my paypal account, which I didn’t feel badly spending before going to Stitches. I mean, it’s already out of the bank account, right? The Loopy Ewe recently got a big update of many lines, including All Things Heather. This is one of the hard-to-find lines that gets rave reviews and I was pleased to see the merino line knits up on US2-4 needles. Right up my alley! And lo, there was a purple. The purple of all purples. Called “Emperor”. I think you can see why:
Of course, the customer service at Loopy Ewe was all that you hear. Friendly, fantastic and FAST. My single little skein was wrapped up and had a Loopy Ewe sticker. There was a handwritten note on my receipt and she included yarn samples and a set of cards to track your needle collection!
A LYS, Unraveled, just got in their first ever order of Malabrigo and to celebrate they offered 15% off starting yesterday. My boss kindly let me cut out of the office for an hour or so yesterday to pop over and nab something. And yes, she knew it was for yarn! Just that little bit of fiber frolic gave me a boost of spirits!
And one mitten, the Super Mitten pattern from Weekend Knitting. I made one mitten this week. In chunky yarn. I came to learn that one of my sisters like mittens. Seeing as how it has been something like 13 below (without windchill) where she is in the upper midwest and she has only fingerless mitts from me, I set out to rectify this situation right away. I sent a picture of several wooly yarns from my stash in colors I thought she might like. She picked Cherry Tree Hill’s Lamb’s Pride Bulky! Good taste!
lol I now have Hank azaria from “the birdcage” singing in my head. whoo hoo yarny goodness.
You’re such a good sis!
And isn’t the Loopy Ewe the greatest? Love your regal purple yarn.
Good luck with all the work work….
Wow, you are putting in the hours! That Malabrigo looks so yummy…love that green color!!
those are perfect !!! cannot wait !!! brrrrrr………….love your new yarns..just gorgeous colors
All this time I thought you were laying low and finishing the two sweaters 🙂 Nothing can soothe the soul like aquiring more yarn. I love the Malabrigo!
Mmmm, Malabrigo…
I can’t believe your boss let you take off to buy yarn! I’m very jealous.
For working all that OT- I say you deserve some extra yarn! Malabrigo…yum!
You’ll be here for Stitches? Yahooooo! Let’s meet up if you’re there on Friday!
Thank goodness you got that break to go get the Malabrigo. If I had a boss like that, I just may go get a job!!
Beautiful mitten. Your sister has great taste!
I love that your boss let you out to grab some yarn 🙂 Hope all the work goes well!
What a great boss!? 🙂 Great stash enhancement. And that’s how I justified all my recent yarn purchases, the money was just sitting there. Waiting to be spent! 😛 LOL
What a great boss! Anyone who understands that a knitter needs to hit a yarn sale is all good in my book.
You have a great boss there to understand the need for yarn breaks! Hope your schedule gets back to normal soon.
Love the colors in your sister’s mittens. Do you know the name? (If it’s too much trouble to look up, don’t worry about it).
Malabrigo is delicious! I love it! I did just notice last night though that the malabrigo stripes in my afghan are pilling BAD. Of course it’s dragged on and off laps daily, but it’s only been used for a couple of months. It has me re-thinking my sweater in Rich Chocolate Malabrigo
Yes, that’s a colorway. Mmmm…
Amazing yarn as usual – the “Emperor” certainly made me drool, what an awesome colourway! And yay for your boss, he seems to be such a great one!
