All that’s left is the finishing. Famous last knitting words.
I’m a little unclear on the directions for the button placement, specifically, “work three sewn buttonholes”. However, having the minimalist tendencies I do, I am considering sewing the contrast color band in the raglan all the way around and leaving it at that.
I will most certainly run out of the main color yarn for the neck band, but I’ve decided I will just make it up with the contrast color. It’s such a subtle difference anyway, if anything I’m glad for the opportunity to make it more prominent. I’m even thinking about making the entire neckband in the contrast color. Would this look dorky? I am hoping it would simply be a little funky, on an otherwise plain jumper. Just a touch of funky, if you will.
I hope to finish this this weekend. However, see cliche above.
I am also trying to plan my knitting for a 4-day trip next weekend. About 8 hours travel time each way! Isn’t it a complex decision? I look at my existing WIPs or “next projects” and decide: too bulky, too complex, too simple, too close to being done, etc. Hmmm. So I will need to start a new project or two, and make sure the yarn and needle size are right for the pattern, all before I leave. This is darn time consuming!
I think a new sock will be one project. The best project for traveling, yes? I am thinking of Monkeys. Obviously, I’m very late to the party on this one.
Decisions, decisions. But they are fun ones!
And more great patterns! Interweave Knits has the Summer preview up here and Kim Hargreaves has her new book, Nectar, previewed here! I’ll be getting this Hargreaves book, but waiting until it is available domestically.
Topaz had his staples out today – the vet said it looked “great”!
Happy weekend!

Thanks for the links!!
Glad Topaz is better – enjoy your weekend
Good luck on the finishing. There are several things in the IK and Hargreaves book that I like too. Can you get the 1st one domestically? Where?
Hmm, travel knitting. If you’re still looking for a pattern, what about the Loco Monkeys Mary’s making? And what about Flutter?
I heart Kim Hargreaves’ patterns, too. So feminine. Like Tender. And Orchid with its peplum is pretty, too. IK has been a dry spell for me lately; last issue the sweaters all seemed to be the same one/geared toward younger readers, and this issue nothing grabs me. Ah, well, such are the vagaries of knit magazines. (at least it isn’t the 80s inspired fugly that Vogue Knitting has been pimping for the last year)
Ah, so close. Definately push through and finish it up! Monkey socks – good choice for traveling. Thanks for the heads-up on the new Kim Hargreaves pattern book – lots of pretty designs:)
8 hours of one way knitting travel time? I can just imagine the gears clicking in your head of what project to work on! Fun fun fun! I think the contrasting neck would look cool and interesting, as long as it’s the right color. What that color is? I don’t know off the top of my head.
I’m happy for Topaz. He’s been through a lot. The finishing part of the garment is the worst. I hate finishing. It will be worth it, when you’re done. Getting ready for travel, as far as knitting and what to take is concerned, is really a chore. I had an entire suitcase full of knitting, projects, finished items, books, and so forth, to take to the Midwest last month. I had to pay $25 extra on the flight. Choose wisely! As always, thanks for the links to the book and the preview. I can always count on you!
soooo glad that lil baby is well !!! see you soon xoxoxo
….so close to being done! how exciting. Also, the Hargreaves book looks so fresh! thanks for the links.
